Bach Kids Review + Giveaway

Bach Original Flower Remedies, the makers of the natural stress reliever Rescue Remedy, has introduced a new line of products just for children. Created to treat your child's emotions and restore balance, each remedy is part of a system of 38 Bach Original Flower remedies developed by Dr. Edward Bach more than 70 years ago. Each kid-friendly remedy addresses a specific emotional state and is safe, non-habit forming, natural and used in 66 countries worldwide.

Here is a little bit of information about each product from their website.

Bach Kids Rescue Remedy

This combination works to ease your child’s stress, which in addition to hampering her success and happiness, can significantly degrade her immune system, making it difficult to ward off the contagions that surround her in school, at the playground and at extra-curricular activities.

Bach Kids Confidence Remedy
Lack of confidence can get in the way of your child reaching his or her highest potential. Bach Kids' Confidence Remedy was created specifically to give children a safe and natural confidence boost to aid in overcoming frustrating obstacles of self-doubt.

Bach Kids Daydream Remedy
Children face countless difficulties associated with a lack of concentration. Trouble concentrating can impact their academic experience, social lives and family relationships. Bach Kids' Daydream Remedy offers a natural way to relieve some of those troubles..

Bach Kids products can easily be added to a child's daily routine by placing two drops on their tongue or in a their favorite beverage. After making sure the new Bach Kids products were safe for babies, I decided to try the Rescue Remedy. With babies, you simply put it on their lips or forehead. I love that these products are natural and of course, safe. I chose to put a few drops on Bryson's lips when he was very fussy. My thinking is fussy equals stress, as far as Bryson is concerned. He was tired and needed a nap, but was absolutely fighting it. After putting a drop on his lips, he did seem to calm. Before I knew it, he was ready for his nap. Now, I'm not saying it instantly knocked him out or will be a wonder drug for your baby, but I will continue to use it and I think it is definitely worth trying. I'm always up for natural products that I know are safe for my child.

If you'd like to read more and learn how it works, I found this great article on Suite 101. If you browse around, you will find that Bach has an excellent reputation.

Buy it! Bach Kids line is available in 10 ml bottles for $12.95 at Whole Foods Markets and natural product retailers. You can also pick them up at BachKids.com. Use promo code GRAVY to get 25% off your order!

Win it! The good folks over at Bach Kids would like to give 15 lucky readers their own bottle of Daydream Remedy. To enter, share a natural remedy with me. It can be for a headache, a fussy baby, anything at all.

My Favorite Day of the Week

It's my favorite day of the week again- Bargain Hunting Thursday! Does it seem like this is all I post about? Another reason I love Thursday is because Kimba hosts Do it yourself day over at A Soft Place to Land and if you need some inspiration, you should click HERE. There are some totally talented women over there and I have gathered a ton of ideas for our new home. I will update with my projects as I attempt them. One of the first things I plan on doing is giving our dining room table a complete make-over. It is very sentimental, as it was made for my parents when they were married 25 years ago. So, go check out DIY Day and let me know some of your favorite projects!

Wordless Wednesday

I found this rocking truck for $20 at GoodWill. The cheapest one I can find on the 'net is $270, so I think it was an awesome deal. Bryson absolutely loves it, but he wants to play in the "floor-board" and gets stuck. It is so totally adorable. You could say I am a bit proud of this find! I plan to take it out it the yard for a photo op soon. We haven't had the best nights here lately, so I have pretty much felt like crap during the day. No kidding, I was up with Bryson over TEN times last night.

He won't go hungry!

Thursday, Bryson and I headed out for our bargain hunting fun. As I've mentioned before, this is probably my favorite day of the week. I just love watching the sparkle in his eye as his finds something new to touch. He is so intrigued by the different colors we come across. This week turned out to be more about Bryson that finding this to resell. That's fine with me, because we got some awesome deals!

34 oz Similac Advance Formula

I know you are probably thinking "you bought forumla?" Why yes, indeed I did. I paid $8.29 for 34oz. I bought all they had, which was 6 tubs. At a retail value of $40 per tub, I saved $190.26! I checked the seals and the expiration dates. The seals were intact and these don't expire until 2010.

I also bought a few cans of Enfamil that is specially made for premies and babies born with a low birth weight. I plan to list those on e-bay, because I don't know anyone around here that could use it. I couldn't pass it up though.

I found a new in box Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair for $10! This chair is listed on Amazon for $249, so I had a savings of $239 on this one item. I haven't put it together yet, as I'm going to wait until we move in our new house.

A gently used Bumbo seat in the box for $5. We paid $40 for Bryson's Bumbo, so savings of $35 on this. I have it listed on e-bay, so hopefully it will sell.

A gently used JJ Cole Bundle Me like the one picture above for $3. This exact one is listed on Amazon for $33.47, so a savings of $30.47. I also picked up a Khaki one a few weeks ago. I plan to list one of them on e-bay in the fall.

Picked up two of these cute Crane Dragon humidifiers. New in the box for $8 each. Regularly $40 each, so a savings of $64 here. They are both listed on e-bay. I bought one a few weeks ago and it sold, so I picked up the rest.

I also bought a ton of cloth napkins for $0.25 a piece and a four placemats at $0.50 a piece. I ended up with a fall set and a summer set. I picked up more contempary style shelves for $5 a piece, both new in box. My entire is house is going to be decorated from Good Will. Bryson got a wooden train set that is adorable for $5. It is put away for either his birthday or Christmas, as he's too young to play with it now. He got a few pair of pants, shorts, and one tee. I found a few new in box Dwell Studio outfits, so I picked those up to either keep as gifts or put on e-bay.
Check back tomorrow for more photos of the most adorable rocking truck & baby ever. If you can't wait, you can take a look HERE.

Here is my Top Ten Finds for the week.

  1. Formula

  2. Stokke Tripp Trapp

  3. JJ Cole Bundle Me

  4. Rocking Truck

  5. Pottery Barn Kid's Chair Cover

  6. Bumbo Seat

GoPicnic Review +Giveaway + Discount Code

I am so excited to share this product with you guys. When I was contacted about this product, I thought "Hey, why not? It is food, after all!" After trying it, I think you guys should stop right now and go visit GoPicnic. I really cannot say enough good things about these meals.

I was able to try the GoEnjoy, GoDeli, ZestyBreak, and the SafariMunch meals. Each meal offered something different, but just a delicious as the one before. I really can't pick a favorite, because I loved each one. The ZestyBreak meal gave me a ton of energy! I ate that meal and then I pretty much picked up the entire house. I think it's because you are eating real food. The meals contain no artificial flavors or colors, no high fructose corn syrup, no trans fats, and no added MSG.

For me, I always thought that "real food" would taste bad. These meals completely changed my mind. Out of the four meals, each with many products, there was only one item I didn't like. It wasn't horrible and I still ate it, but it just wasn't for me. So, I say give these meals a try and see that "real food" does indeed taste good!

These would be great to keep in the car for those times that you need something quick or you left the house without eating. You have everything but a drink in one small box, even dessert! I especially liked that each product is individually packaged in the box. Most packages also have a website, so if you really love that particular product, you can visit the website and order it. I noticed this, because each meal contained at least one product that I'd like to have by the bag.

GoPicnic currently offers Kosher meals, Gluten-Free meals, Vegetarian meals, and Halal meals. There are also meals that are peanut-free. They can work with you to meet your dietary and nutritional needs. Another thing I love about GoPicnic is that they offer fundraisers. This is a great alternative to the donuts, wrapping paper, and cookie dough fundraisers. You can visit this page if you are interested in learning more about that.

Buy it! You can place your order online at GoPicnic.com. Be sure to use coupon code GPMOMS to get 20% off!

Win it! GoPicnic has generously offered to sponsor this giveaway. Five lucky readers will win four products each. Simply visit GoPicnic and tell me which meal(s) you'd pick if you won.

Small Talk Six - So Talented... or not.

The topic this week is 6 talents you wish you possessed. This should be pretty simple for me!

  1. Learn to sew. Okay, so this is something I know I could do, but I'm one of those people that needs someone to hold my hand through the learning process. I haven't found that person yet.

  2. Learn to paint. I can barely draw a stick man, so I don't see a master piece in my future.

  3. Be brilliant with numbers. I am easily overwhelmed with math. I hate to even think about it.

  4. Speak out and speak up. I will tell most anyone exactly what I think, but you put me up in front of a crowd and I'll probably pee my pants. No kidding, in school, I would take zero before I would recite a poem or do CPR in front of the class!

  5. Organization. While I am decently organized, it would be nice to one of those super annoying people who have every single thing organized perfectly.

  6. Photography. I get the job done, but how I would love to be able to take such wonderful photos and learn how to edit them.

Visit MomDot for more Small Talk Six.

Wordless Wednesday: Just Me

Before Haircut
And After

Just thought I'd share a few photos of me for once.
Both taken two years and a baby ago.
You'll get the cuteness that is my son back next week!

House Update

We finally heard something on the house! Our agent received the signed contract, so we can now start the process of closing. Let's hope that everything goes smoothly and quickly from here on out. I am so excited to revamp and decorate this place. I can't wait to show you guys the before pictures, because I think you'll think we are crazy. We will once again have a home of our own.

& I thought I'd share a bit of cuteness with you.

My Freecycle Vent

Okay, so I admit that I dove into Freecycle somewhat naive. I honestly thought that people were decent enough to take only what they need. It never crossed my mind that strangers would take advantage of my kindness just to resell the items I gave them free.

What is worse is that these people did not even care. They were so blunt about it when they showed up to pick up the items. Now, through e-mail, it was we could really use this and God Bless. I'm sorry that I am about to be so blunt, but I'm calling bullshit. When they arrived, I had a few baby tubs, car seats, and a bouncer. Because more than one person had claimed them, I decided to send one of each item with the first three responses.

"You can just pick whichever items you like..."
"Oh, it don't matter. We don't care."
"Okay then..."
"We are just here to take it for you."

If it was my child, I would care. I would pick the best ones available. I guess since they arrived in their big blue "yard-selling" van, they didn't care. More than likely, they don't even have a child. And no thank you, no we appreciate it? Go find some damn manners.

I definitely did not let these people know how I felt, but I sure wanted to. They do know where I live though and the judgemental side of me says they were just a bit weird. Or maybe that's just because they pissed me off. Either way, that is pretty crappy of someone.

So, from now on, if I post an offer, these people will be ignored. More than likely, I will just donate everything to a local charity. On trip and I'm done with these things.

I would like to mention that someone had posted looking for a weight bench and we just happened to have one. That situation went a lot smoother, so I may just reply to "wanted" offers. I did have a nice chick come pick up a ton of magazines also. She even said "Thank you!"

I just want to give a middle finger to that crappy couple. How is that for class?

Instead, I will just vent here, because they know where I live.

Skin by Monica Olsen + Travel Kit for Baby Review

When it comes to Bryson, like any mom, I only want the best. It doesn't matter if it is food or lotion, I want it to be good for him. When I was contacted to try the Skin by Monica Olsen line for baby, I got excited. I was sent the Travel Kit for Baby to try out. Here is some info about the travel kit from their website:

"Keep baby clean and happy on the go! This set contains products formulated with the purest and most natural ingredients; these extra gentle blends are free of irritants and have been specifically formulated for baby’s sensitive skin. This TSA approved travel set for baby is a must have! Travel Kit contains: Lovely Locks shampoo and conditioner,Butt-So-Soft diaper rash care, Calendula rash protection, Sweet P baby lotion and Lullabye moisturizing baby wash."

The kits comes in a clear slide-zip closing bag and contains a wash cloth. The great thing about the size of the bottles is that you don't have to worry about taking them on a plane. If you travel, you can just grab this bag for baby, because each bottle size is approved. In one small bag, you have seven items that you need for baby.

My favorite of the set? I love the Lovely Locks conditioner. I had never used conditioner on Bryson's hair, but the poor guy inherited my super thick hair and needs it. Each product is very gentle, so it's great for sensitive skin.

I definitely suggest checking out this kit. Even if you don't travel that often, it is great to have around and it will last a long while. You can find products for anyone, not just baby. They have an entire section devoted to men and women's products, so definitely look around the website.

So Life Goes

I think it has been about a week since I have updated about life in general and I like to make sure I do that once a week, so here goes.

  • We are still absolutely no where on the house. We signed more addendums about two weeks ago. They had made an error and only listed Justin's name, so we had to fix that. We are now waiting on them to sign the offer and get it back to us. Although they have accepted, they still sign a "counter-offer." This delay has been a blessing for us financially, so I am not complaining.
  • Justin is working two jobs. He's working at his day job, then he picked up a drywall job that has now turned into four other jobs. If you know anything about drywall, you know it pays well. The only reason Justin doesn't do it full time is because we tried that and we were always on pins and needles, because times are often slow. This has also been a huge blessing.
  • Bryson is rowdy! I do not have a clue how I'm going to keep up with this boy. He started crawling a few weeks ago and now he's pulling up on everything. If you hold him to let him walk, he pushes you away because he thinks he can do it by his big boy self. Talk about Mr. Independent.
  • He loves squash mixed with oatmeal and those Baby Mum Mum crackers.
  • As I mentioned in my last post, we go bargain shopping once a week. These trips have allowed me to start an ebay business that has so far been successful. If things keep going like this, I will not be forced to get a part-time job.
  • I received the "Total Money Makeover" book in the mail Thursday. I found it ironic that our freezer decided to kick the bucket the same day.

I think this sums it up for now. There is more going on, but I'll post about it later.

Bargain Hunting Thursdays

Bryson and I have officially made Thursday our "Bargain Hunting Thursdays." I look forward to it each week, not only because of the deals, but because I simply love getting Bry out of the house. He enjoys going places, watching everyone around him, touching anything I'll let him, and taking it all in. He is such a joy.

We have found some amazing deals lately. I'm talking it makes me want to go every single day.

ERGObaby carrier 2 @ $1 each
Classic ERGObaby carrier @ $4.29
ERGObaby carrier @ $6.29 (I'm keeping this one. It's like new!)
Bumkins Bib $0.10 (love these)
Wooden High Chair $25 (gorgeous!)
Crane 2.1 Humidifier $8 (New in Box)
Diaper Covers @ $0.25 (New with Tags Ralph Lauren & RuffleButts)
Disney Ice Packs @ $0.50 each (bought about 10 for party favors)
JJ Cole Bundle Me @ $3 (like new)
Skip Hop Pronto Denim Changer @ $6.29 (new)

and the list goes on. Sometimes living in a hick town where no one knows big names pays off big time! If this keeps up, I won't have to return to work in a few months. Now that, my friends, would be a dream come true.

I will have an update on life, the new house, and other things later!

Win a 16x20 Canvas Poster from Online Poster Printing-CLOSED

I take photos almost every single day. Actually, between Saturday and Sunday, I had taken 114 photos. I love having photo albums packed full to browse through at any time. One thing I love more than that is having a photo stare me in the face. I have a 16x20 of just Bryson's face and those big blue eyes. There was going to be a fight over it when we moved into the new house. My dad says it stays with him. We all love it that much. I have decided to just order another, so we won't have to brawl over it.

I'm in luck, because Online Poster Printing has offered myself and one lucky reader a 16x20 canvas poster! Because I'm such a sweetheart, I have decided to get the picture below for my dad. Life Changing Experiences

For this blog hop, we are sharing three things you didn't know about me. I'm going to share three experiences I had that changed my life and molded me into the person I am today.

  1. During the summer of 2000, my dad was blown up and severely burned. My mother and I were hours away at a softball tournament. After weeks in the burn unit at Erlanger, he was released. Amazingly, if you didn't know he was burned, you wouldn't be able to tell.
  2. November 19, 2002, my house burned to the ground. We have really bad experiences with fire, if you haven't caught on. This was probably the most life changing experience I have ever had. It turned me from materialistic to understanding what is really important. It was a hard lesson to learn.
  3. April 2005, we decided to go to Piegon Forge, TN for our birthdays. While we were away, a hose came off of our refrigerator (in our NEW house) and flooded the downstairs. That made for a not so welcoming return. I walked through the front door and my foot splashed. I realized something was bad wrong.

So, I guess you almost couldn't blame the insurance company when they dropped us after 20 years... almost.

We're Busted.

But, I don't wanna show my teeth!

Okay, so Justin and I have gone out to eat this month. Honestly, instead of feeling defeated, I feel empowered by how well we have done. My mom treated me to lunch last week and my dad took me out for Japanese yesterday. So technically, I have spent $0.84 on two cookies as far as out to eat food.
  • Sandwich from the deli inside Unclaimed Baggage

  • Japanese with my parents

  • Cookie from Wingstop
I can't speak for Justin, but I think he is doing a great job also. He has gone from eating out almost every day to about once a week. Our pockets can definitely see the difference. I think this experience has definitely opened Justin's eyes, because he has mentioned a few times how much money we have saved.

As a side note, my son is amazed with Whoopi. "We" are watching "The View." He's actually running around in his walker, but he is completely into "The View" right now.

Bryson is pulling at her (no clue what I typed her) his ear which means nap time! I wonder is this moma can sneak a nap in too?

One more thing, I'm thinking about doing a Q&A. Would anyone be interested in that?

Ecostore USA Review + Giveaway- CLOSED

I have blogged before about my quest to go green and become eco-friendly. As always, I am searching for simple ways to get there. I look for products I can use everyday and feel good about using. Recently, I was given the chance to review a couple products from Ecostore USA.

As the name implies, Ecostore USA carries eco-friendly products that have no nasty chemicals. All of their products are made from plant and mineral based ingredients and are free of toxic chemicals. One of my favorite things about the Ecostore USA website is that you can go here and see exactly what is in each product. How neat is that!? These guys are serious; even the package, materials, and invoice are eco-friendly.

I received the Baby Shampoo and the Hypoallergenic Dog Shampoo. I am only reviewing the baby shampoo today, as I haven't gotten around to bathing the dogs yet. Look for that review soon.

First off, it is the cutest bottle of baby shampoo ever. That photo cracked me up; it's so sweet. Once you pull your eyes away from that cute baby, you are going to want to smell it. I enjoy clean smells and this smells like eucalyptus. It isn't a strong smell and it doesn't leave your baby smelling like eucalyptus, but it smells wonderful when you open up the bottle. With this shampoo, a little goes a long way. I used a dime size amount the first time and I could have used less. It has a wonderful lather, so use less than you think you should. It is extremely mild, so although it cleans baby's hair, it will not irritate their skin or eyes. I had no problems with it and Bryson enjoyed his bath as usual. You can view their entire line of baby products here.

Win it! Ecostore USA would like to give one lucky reader a $25 gift certificate.

K-Mart Toy Clearance Deals

If you read my post yesterday, then you know there are some deals to be had a K-Mart right now. Best of all, these deals do not require coupons and are toys, which you rarely find coupons for anyways. The deal is 50% off the already clearanced toys!

We headed out last night and after two shopping carts full of toys (+some weird looks) and about $700 worth of toys, we were ready to check out. Our total? Around $160!

I had already put everything away in the attic by the time I remembered to take a photo. The Radio Flyer Turtle isn't pictured, but you get the idea!

Some of my favorite finds were

Radio Flyer Turbo Turtle $18
Fisher-Price Go Baby Go Crawl and Cruise Musical Jungle $18
Thomas & Friends Ball Pit $11

We finished our Christmas shopping for the little kids in our families (5 total) and we also bought a ton for Bryson. I am so glad I decided to check it out. If you have birthdays coming up or if you'd like to get a headstart on Christmas, I definitely suggest making the trip. I was able to buy toys that normally would have been out of my Christmas budget, but because of the sale, they were well within and even below my budget.

Have you checked out the K-Mart's toy clearance sale? If so, did you find any good deals?

I also wanted to let you guys in on a great deal going on a K-Mart. Head over to Saving Your Cents to read all about it. She ended up with over $1000 worth of toys for $150. I'll be heading out in a bit to check out BigK and I will let you know if I find anything. As always, you should check your ad or call ahead to make sure this deal is going on at your local store. Now would be a great time to start stocking up for Christmas!

Earn Money Taking Surveys

One way I bring income in is by taking online surveys. I usually only participate it sites that I can cash in for gift cards or a cash/check. While you will not get rich taking surveys, you can bring in enough to help out here and there. I plan to build mine up, then cash them all out around September or October, so I can have that money for Christmas and Bryson's first birthday.

Two of my favorite sites:

HCDSurveys- I like this site, because they pay cash. You can't trade in your points for prizes, only a check. Just today, I finished a survey and earned 500 points or $5. It took me about 10 minutes. I also like that you are not bombarded by surveys; I have only received a few, but they pay between $1 and $5 and are very simple.

Opinion Outpost- Another site that only sends checks. They do not send a ton a surveys, maybe one or two a week. This is probably one of my favorite sites. Even if you do not qualify for a survey, you can a choice at the end of the survey to be entered in a) an instant win game b) a monthly drawing or c) you can donate.

I am going to try to share new sites or programs each week. Please let me know if this is something you are interested in.

Wordless Wednesday: Pears, Anyone?

One of my favorite things about summer is fresh fruit and veggies. These pears were so delicious and juicy that I didn't have to add a bit of water to puree them for Bryson's baby food. He enjoys snacking on pears.; I think it felt good against his gums? And his new favorite food? Butternut squash! Justin planted squash and we have a ton, so I'm glad Bryson likes it.
